  • Is Moon Room a good solo date vibe? I love jazz but I’m not really a bar go-er, especially on my own lol.
    by /u/CampOk5857 on May 7, 2026 at 2:25 am

I’m a flight attendant based in the area. I don’t know anyone here except for a few coworkers, and I’ve been trying to find new spots and ways to spend my time. This might sound silly lol but I’m 22 and have never really been to the bar before, so I don’t know what to expect or what the vibes are like. But I’ve seen Moon Room on TikTok and I love live music, especially jazz, and it looks soooo lovely in there. I’ve heard it can get quite busy, so what times and days of the week would be good to go? submitted by /u/CampOk5857 [link] [comments]

  • Looking for an area for study group
    by /u/plasmire on May 7, 2026 at 2:05 am

I need an area that can host about 6-8 of us to study for roughly 6-8 hours a day roughly around Raleigh area. Willing to purchase coffee/food(multiple times in a day) etc to stay somewhere that we can discuss and talk within a group. I’ve search some libraries but don’t want to disturb people with discussions and the rooms that I’ve seen either can be reserved that long or you have to be in school at those areas which we are not. Would love some suggestions that we could study from roughly 8 to 4/5pm for about a week. I’ll probably host at my place one of the days but want to change it up as people in my group are coming from Wendell/rocky mount and I’m coming from apex so want to find middle ground. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. submitted by /u/plasmire [link] [comments]

  • Landscaping/House Cleaning help wanted
    by /u/SouthOwn4907 on May 7, 2026 at 1:33 am

Hello! I apologize in advance if this has been asked, but struggling to find exactly what I’m looking for in past threads. I’m moving into a 100-year-old Five Points rental home in around 3 weeks. The house has been vacant for over 6 months and needs some help to get to a maintainable point for 4 college girls with very few power tools 🙂 For the interior, we’re likely just looking at a standard move-in cleaning. Any recommendations are welcome, particularly for a limited budget. We’re willing to put more money into the exterior and more elbow grease in the interior. For the yard, we may not necessarily need a landscaper, and we are fine with things not being perfect. We’re much more concerned about getting weeds, leaves, and overgrowth removed than we are about hedge trimming, and we know all will grow back. We need someone to hack up the yard (on a budget) and haul anything away, so that basic yard maintenance is manageable for us throughout our tenancy. Thanks in advance for the recommendations! Below are our specific needs. Things in the yard I’d like taken care of, in order of priority: Fallen leaves General overgrowth Edging along fence line, house perimeter, and backyard brick path Bushes that need to be trimmed back Removal/killing small sprouts/weeds throughout the yard Very overgrown flower bed (does not necessarily need to be usable for planting but weeds need to be removed) Small vines on fence and side of house Things in the interior of the house that need attention, no particular order: The nooks and crannies of every window (window sills, frames, etc. are drafty given the age of the home and have collected dust over the vacancy) Cleaning baseboards and mopping floors well Very thorough cleaning of fixtures, knobs, etc. Deep cleaning bathrooms and removing stains and discoloration from dated fixtures Kitchen appliances submitted by /u/SouthOwn4907 [link] [comments]

  • Can I take any legal action for past animal abuse?
    by /u/soth_ewe on May 7, 2026 at 12:46 am

Over a year ago, I posted here that a guy called to say that he was torturing and killing my missing cat, going into great detail then trying to convince me to meet him in the woods to get the cat at the Kerr YMCA. I found the guy, a friend who works at Wakefield high school confronted him and he admitted to calling me and saying these things. After filing the police report, the officer would not return my calls. I tried reaching out numerous times. Why won’t the police look into it and is there anything I can do? If I post his name (he was 17 at the time) could I get in trouble even thought I have 100 percent proof of who did it? Why won’t the police return my calls/texts or let me press charges? More detail from my past post: I went to the parking lot by the YMCA where he said he’d be and photographed his car but stayed in my car. I watched him and his friends leave the woods and get into a minivan and drive off. The number he called me from is registered to a local man who died in 2012. But, my friend was able to track him down because the teen used the same number he called me from to create his TikTok account. TikTok has a feature where it can find TikTok accounts from your contacts. I have his name, social media, photos, his mom’s name. I filed a police report online but the police don’t return my calls and texts. I sent photos of the car at the YMCA, the teen’s name and phone number he used to call me. Do I have any rights/recourse against someone who tried to lure me into the woods and who called me going into great detail about torturing and killing my missing cat? I had the phone on speaker so my kids heard EVERYTHING. submitted by /u/soth_ewe [link] [comments]

  • Alright boys, 200, TWO HUNDRED days without alcohol!
    by /u/JEulerius on May 7, 2026 at 3:46 am

10x better, productivity 10x better, mood always stable and normal, just a constant good vibe underneath everything. Obviously this isn’t a miracle, my baseline was just too low from regular drinking. The return to normal feels like a massive life boost. People who didn’t have serious benders don’t get this deep about quitting. I do. The coolest part is finally being able to actually prioritize my current goals, have them, and consciously sacrifice things for them. Without feeling particularly guilty. Indie dev business for example, I’m climbing out of “this is a fun thing” into “this is my main income.” All of that became possible only thanks to a certain madness and detachment, which became possible only thanks to quitting drinking, because stability matters. Anyway. This led to a certain toxicity in me, but whatever, I’m an obsessed person and I feel like a very old dream of mine is starting to actually work. Now I’m getting serious about nutrition and fitness too. Eating strictly to my calorie target, training as much as I planned, tracking measurements, all of it. All these things are going from “would be cool” to “I’m doing it.” NO BOOZE! submitted by /u/JEulerius [link] [comments]

  • Why does everyone think you tell the truth when drunk?!?
    by /u/Technical-Thanks-997 on May 7, 2026 at 2:28 am

I’ve literally keep having to apologize and argue back and forth that I did not mean things or I said things that just fit a conversation and things I’d never really do or act out…..half I can’t remember I’m so upset about this “alcohol is a truth serum” submitted by /u/Technical-Thanks-997 [link] [comments]

  • My experience with sobriety
    by /u/Frosty-Village-5140 on May 7, 2026 at 2:14 am

I am posting this to share my experience with alcoholism and then sobriety, now that I am 9 months sober. Prior to getting sober, I was a functional alcoholic. Sometimes I would drink 2 bottles of wine per night every single night by myself. My husband never noticed. My kids never noticed. No one around me noticed my problem. I suppose there are some benefits to functional alcoholism…but it’s a sneaky little devil because I never got “caught” so to speak. I would sneak extra drinks at gatherings, sneak away for secret shots…drink hidden bottles of liquor in the closet at home. Chug small bottles in my car. I always had one of the small boxes of box wine in my purse just in case I needed it (I always ended up needing it). Recently, my father has had quite a few health problems related to drinking and it has made me really think about the beginning of my relationship with alcohol. Both of my parents were alcoholics and alcohol was extremely normalized for me growing up. I just decided to stop on a random Tuesday 9 months ago because I don’t want my alcoholism to impact my kids the way my parents’ impacted me (and my siblings too). Here is what I’ve noticed now that I am 253 days in. My anxiety has improved so much. I think I had daily hangxiety before and my mind is so much lighter without the ruminating thoughts. Quitting was so hard in the beginning…but I stuck it out and it made me realize I can do hard things. That has transferred to other areas of my life and I now work out every day and keep my house so much cleaner. I am more present and pleasant-tempered around my children and husband. I am taking good care of myself and that makes me like myself in a way I haven’t felt before. Now the hard parts…so many events and social settings revolve around alcohol. People invite me to things less and it hurts my feelings. I am not sure if it is because I’m less fun…or because me not drinking makes them question their own consumption and that’s a buzzkill for them. Idk. But it sucks! Weddings are kind of a strange experience sober and I feel like an alien at holidays and parties of any kind. People have told me I seem different…they’re used to the very lively and tipsy version of me. I am working on figuring out WHO I am without alcohol. It’s terrifying how much time I spent thinking about it and partaking in it. Over a decade of my life…thinking about my next drink. I feel like an imposter in my own skin, it’s such a strange feeling. Anyways, thanks if you read this far. I only share this journey with my husband really…and he has a very healthy relationship with alcohol so he just can’t understand. I wanted to share my experience to relate to others in the same position! I am hoping I can keep it up. IWNDWYT submitted by /u/Frosty-Village-5140 [link] [comments]

  • Hi all, first post here
    by /u/Shot-Ad-5090 on May 7, 2026 at 1:43 am

I’ve been reading a lot of posts here for a while and it and it really gave me the push I needed to finally quit. Im about one month sober now. I never thought I’d post, but just be more of a silent observer. Though I have been feeling very sick recently, especially at night and I cant find any information online much passed how the first few days or 2 weeks feel as far as mood or physical recovery. I was wondering if anyone else come night time felt foggy, irritated or nauseous. Even to the point of throwing up. I figured I’d ask here as everyone is in a similar boat before I start worrying and seeing a doctor. I really admire everyone here. Thanks for reading. submitted by /u/Shot-Ad-5090 [link] [comments]
